Don Omar & Hakim...Miami, FL. April 16th, 2007- International reggaeton superstar, Don Omar traveled to Egypt for the recording of a duet with famed Egyptian singer, Hakim. This marks the first time a reggaeton artist sets foot in Egypt in as much to perform with an Egyptian singer. The track, "Tuigui" produced a music video which was filmed on Saturday, April 14th. The track was a message of solidarity against racial injustice and discrimination. Don Omar joins the ranks of Stevie Wonder and the late James Brown as part of the few who have collaborated with the multi-platinum selling singer. Both artists attended a press conference this week to answer the questions of more than 100 members of the international press. When asked about his feeling towards the overwhelming support and reception of his music in Egypt, the "King of Reggaeton" had this to say: "I didn't know the success of my music in Egypt. It is honor I am very proud to receive." In regards to working with Don Omar, Hakim told the press, "Throughout my artistic career, I have always been known as an innovator by taking our Egyptian culture and music to the world. Adding my voice together with one of the most talented and top-selling Latin artist, will help me to continue growing artistically and in my career." The "Tugui" music video was filmed on location amongst the ancient Egyptian pyramids, the first time any artist has been allowed to film at these private and sacred locations.
