Amidst the mayhem of Kenya's post-election ethnic violence, one group of ethnically-mixed aspiring young journalists from Nairobi's Mathare slum decided to take up cameras instead of knives. Slum TV aimed to project some hope back into their scarred community. Africa Uncovered follows the team at Slum TV as they count down to a public screening and revisits some of the characters they filmed during the violence.

Feb 23, 2009 - Just because they are Arabs they are not necessarily racist. I don't mind watching African news, but they are often of such poor quality that it gets tiring to try to watch them. Also it often takes an outsider without any tribal connections to see the bigger picture.

Feb 24, 2009 - As a West African I spend a considerable amount of time in Nigeria. Some programs they produce there are excellent, some average and some quite dumb. I agree that obviously people who know the culture and background are obviously better equipped to understand what is really going on, but it is not the case every time. It is NOT racist to produce information that supports a different point of view, only you need to be aware of the possible bias the reporter may have.
