Jan 26, 2010 - The quickest way is what sergeant505 posted. You can always volunteer for it later, during AIT or once assigned to your unit. Airborne training is three weeks long, lots of running, but you only have to do the minimum qualifying pushups, situps, and run time for an 18-21 year old level on the PT test. Time to hit the ground depends on how high you jump, in Airborne school that is 1250 feet. You decend at a rate with a T10-D chute at 18-22 feet per second, do the math.

Jan 26, 2010 - It can very dangerous, especially if someone doesn't have control of their fears. One guy on a jump I was on got his arm wrapped up in his static line and came close to tearing the whole thing off, it was horrendous, I'll never forget it. Guy ended up getting dragged by the plane by his arm and static line. I can remember the sound of his ACH knocking against the skin of the plane.

Feb 9, 2010 - Ranger is school is 61 days of training. Not to burst anybody's bubble. Not 400 days, not 340 days or anything like that. Dont worry I got my info directly off of the Benning and the RTB website.

Dave1351 Says:

Feb 16, 2010 - It takes some serious ballz to do this, why are women jumping? they dont belong in the airborne

ILLogicalScripts1 Says:

Feb 16, 2010 - @anttonoo They first attend Basic, AIT (OSUT) and thenthe Airborne school you are hearing about isjust where they learn to do static jumps andreceive their wings. All in all it's around 6 monthsof training if you want to be an Airborne Infantryman. Our Rangers go through RIP and then traincontinuously with the 75th Ranger Rgt untilthey are deemed ready for Ranger school. The training for a Ranger comes from experience....not just a school.

shelbyfahrer Says:

Feb 20, 2010 - Damn, someone must be sick to jump at this height that would kill you immediately. They must definitely have some suicidal tendencies. No sane person would ever jump.

landmine21 Says:

Feb 21, 2010 - i would! the adrenaline rush is superb! I want to go skydiving so bad, but im afraid of heights rofl and im going to get my pilots license =)

maxinpains Says:

Mar 6, 2010 - @shelbyfahrer that's true... shocks can kill... but if you are already airborne scholl i'm pretty much sure those one has been weeded out.

PapaAnon Says:

Mar 10, 2010 - @shelbyfahrer Thats why they were parachutes......

shelbyfahrer Says:

Mar 10, 2010 - @PapaAnon Nevertheless it is against human nature. That is why many people hesitate. To hesitate is normal behaviour, to jump is not.I know a person that did this mistake to jump. He realized it was a mistake the first night after the jump. He since then has nightmares every night. He is dreaming of an endless falling, a creepy feeling and every night he hopes for the final impact that would end this endless nightmare of an eternal falling. He is even afraid of sleeping because of this.

PapaAnon Says:

Mar 11, 2010 - @shelbyfahrer If your that petrefied of heights DONT join AIRBORNE school. Hence the name AIRBORNE...

carleo26 Says:

Mar 17, 2010 - Well your friend is a pussy bro. Having nightmares what the hell is that? This is by far the greatest feel min the world.
