MOSTLY FLOOD NEWS, SOME COMMERCIALSI was recycling some old 3/4" tapes and came across this time capsule. I think it was intented to be a commercial transcript. It's from KABC in 1980. Dont sue me please, its just here for memories. If anybody who owns any of this stuff objects, dont bother You tube, Ill take it down.

Jul 5, 2007 - this set was later used by WABC in 1987
mbhfromla Says:
Jul 9, 2007 - Actually this was an old set that was replaced in 1985/6 with two sets, one with the familiar blue 7 backdrop and another with what appears to be mountains overlooking the city. WABC somewhat copied this set, though they did not use double sets.
wrolff Says:
Jul 16, 2007 - Ron Burgandy?
teotwawki69 Says:
Aug 2, 2007 - And I was just going to point out that bit of trivia about the source of the Eyewitness News Theme. I don't think they use it anymore, but damned if I can remember -- and I do watch them from time to time...
mbhfromla Says:
Aug 21, 2007 - Correction. It was actually one set, with a couple of backdrops. They studio crew would replace the backdrops for every newscast. There were not double sets until 1989, that was used until 1998.
CoyoteSeven Says:
Aug 24, 2007 - I remember this flood. All the roads were rivers throughout Los Angeles.
wmbrown6 Says:
Sep 12, 2007 - This also appears to be among the last newscasts on KABC-TV to use the "old" Norelco PC-70's . . . by the time of John Lennon's assassination this studio already was equipped with Ikegami HK-312C's.
sky1beam Says:
Sep 23, 2007 - KGO used the square ABC7 mics in 1991
treffynnon19 Says:
Sep 29, 2007 - Whose at the announcing mic?And could those Norelco PC-70s be any bigger?
wmbrown6 Says:
Oct 9, 2007 - I did hear that V/O's voice on a Sunday night "EWN" in early 1980, co-anchored by John North and Tawny Little. But I'm as curious as you as to who the announcer might be . . .
lviefortoday Says:
Nov 10, 2007 - What was Paul Moyer's duties on this newscasts?
wmbrown6 Says:
Nov 18, 2007 - I.I.N.M., wasn't he Jerry Dunphy's co-anchor at 5 (while Christine Lund sat alongside Mr. Dunphy on the 6 and 11 editions)?
sky1beam Says:
Dec 4, 2007 - KGO called its newscasts NewsScene
wmbrown6 Says:
Dec 4, 2007 - Due to KPIX's use of the "Eyewitness News" title. Likewise in Detroit, WXYZ's newscasts were called "Action News," in no small part due to "EWN" being the name of WJBK's newscast.

StukInBuf Says:
Jun 28, 2008 - What's the name of the tune from the Revlon Flex ad? I remember hearing it on a show that aired after one "ABC Afterschool Special" in early 1978 in New York, before Bill Beutel and Roger Grimsby's "Eyewitness News" broadcast.
StMeade Says:
Sep 23, 2008 - I love it. Thanks for posting. Honest News. You wouldn't get that today.
beatlequigon Says:
Sep 25, 2008 - Name of tune? I have no Idea. I would actually like to know. I have heard the tune used in other tv clips. It likely comes from a production music library, like NETWORK or Hi-Q.

Feb 1, 2009 - I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! Thank you for posting these videos. 1980 was TRULY a horrific rainy season. I was a freshman in high school, and remember it very well. Lived in Pasadena. CRAZY times. We had just come out of a drought so this season was REALLY bad.
